Quarantined Creatives Art Challenge
Day 1: Beauty From Ashes
I created this wooden cross art piece from rejected Ash wood slices that I cut for my Christmas ornaments (original design) last fall. These slices had cracks or were too thin, but I
didn’t have the heart to throw them out.
When I heard that this first challenge of the Quarantined Creatives Art
Challenge was called Beauty from Ashes, I just knew I had to do
something with these rejected pieces.
The wood used in the cross and my Christmas wood ornaments came from Ash Wood trees that were uprooted last September by Hurricane Dorian. Dorian pummeled Canada’s smallest province of Prince Edward Island, where we live, decimating many ancient trees.
