Hello Friends,
I'm doing an art challenge with Nicholas Wilton (Art2Life) on Facebook this week. Today's challenge was all about how you want to feel when you are doing art and what kind of feeling you want your art to have. I can't believe I did this in only 30 minutes. It's no masterpiece but it wasn't intended to be. It was very enjoyable and that was the whole point of this exercise.
I started with colours I like and slapped them down with a palette knife. Then I moved colours around with other palette knives, brushes, a sponge and a knitting needle. Nicholas told us at one point to look at our work and decide what we liked or didn't like about it.
I liked the bright pink and teal so I added a bit more of that. I wanted more texture, so I grabbed a piece of corrugated cardboard and pressed it into the wet paint randomly in a loose grid pattern. Then I defined the grids with darker paint on the edge of a palette knife.
At one point, Nicholas added a little sketch to his page. I remembered that I'd done a WC sketch a few weeks ago. It was sitting on my desk so I added it to the middle of my page. I smudged the wet paint around it with my finger and, by then, I was having a really good time.
If you feel stuck in your art or you just want some relaxing creative time for yourself, it's only 30 minutes a day. Here is Day One on You Tube.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you are having a great day.
Hugs & smiles,
Teresa
