Hello friends,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas yesterday. I want to share with you a painting I did for my husband of his favourite feline, Plussette. I honestly did not know if I would get this completed in time for Christmas. It took 3-4 hours just to get the eyes right and almost that long for the nose.
This is the photograph I used for my painting in acrylics. I struggled to get the tabby fur right on the body and finally decided to cut the painting down to a head and shoulders portrait.
I bought this 8x10 frame, so I had to use an additional mat to make the cut-down painting fit. It was down to the 23rd of December so I either had to make this work or scrap the whole project. This is the final result.
And here are a couple of close-ups. I was getting a lot of glare from the window. Sorry about that. I started with a blue background. I painted some burnt umber over that and then scraped through it to allow some of the blue to show through; also to give it some interest and texture.
And this is our baby. She is 11 years old, but I still call her a kitten. Plussette is gentle, affectionate and absolutely knows how to get her humans to do her bidding, and to love doing it too.
The big pay-off was seeing how pleased my husband was with his surprise Christmas gift.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. May you be blessed.
Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

The painting is beautiful. Cats do have a way to get their humans to do what they want, that is so true! Hugs, Valerie
Wow, this is gorgeous! You really did a fabulous job with Plussette. I bet your husband loved it so much.
Brian painted my beloved kitty Muffin, who passed in 2004, and surprised me a number of years ago - not for Christmas, just out of the blue - it was one of the most loving and thoughtful gifts I ever received.
I love this painting.
Wish I could paint from a photo - but I can't...
Thanks for sharing.
