Backgrounds and a Card

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all off to a great start for this new year. I look forward to many positive things this year.

The Saturday Paper a la Mode challenge at The Outlawz has a really fun challenge this week. You are to make your own background for a card creation. They have given loads of inspiration, with each team member doing a different technique. They explain the techniques as well, so you can try them out. I couldn't wait to get started.

I did three backgrounds using the embossing folder technique demonstrated by TO Design team co-leader, Debbie.

Here is the technique:
1) First ink up the top side of one embossing folder, insert a piece of white cardstock and run it through your machine. Clean up your folder with a baby wipe and paper towel. Then run the embossed piece through your machine again just to flatten it out. I laid my folder on top of the embossed piece.

2) Choose a different embossing folder, insert your cardstock from Step 1 and run it through your machine. Lightly sponge ink in a contrasting colour over the raised parts of your embossing.

Here is a card I made with one of my backgrounds:

This card is for my nephew, who doesn't know our side of the family very well, due to a divorce when he was just a baby. I made a pocket inside the card and inserted a colorized photo of my father (his grandfather) from his days serving in WWII. I wrote  a bit of historical information on the back.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will try out this technique or some of the other background techniques shown on the Saturday Paper a la Mode page at The Outlawz this week.

Hugs & smiles,
Teresa
