Recently I discovered a online community called, "His Kingdom Come". One of the groups, "Take Me Deeper", involves a weekly bible study that each member illustrates in an art journal. This is the cover I did for my mixed media journal. I attempted a sgraffito painting technique where you scratch a design or picture into a layer of wet paint which is applied over a layer of dry paint in a contrasting colour. I didn't like the results very much so I messed around with markers and more acrylic paint. I'm still not crazy about it, but it is what it is.
Another of the groups is called, "Logos 365". You pray and ask God to give you a word (or phrase) for 2015 that you can focus on throughout the year. The phrase I got was, "Make Space". I think there will be many layers of meaning for me to discover, but it is starting off very simply. I used the first pages of my TMD Journal (above) to illustrate the 'Make Space' theme. I used acrylic paints for my backgrounds and cut-outs from an old calendar.
The words and pictures were cut from an old calendar. "Home is the starting place" illustrates how my 'making space' mandate is being worked out in my life right now. I have been re-prioritizing my time and reorganizing my home to make space for the things that are truly important. I can easily get side-tracked by little activities that eat up my time, or unnecessary stuff that takes up valuable physical space in my modestly-sized home.
Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate you taking the time and I am twice blessed when you stop long enough to comment.
Blessing hugs,
Teresa

Teresa once again these creations are just so artistic. I love how free your creations are. Make Space is such an awesome phrase to live by. As you say it has many layers and decluttering cupboards at home is but one example which is very satisfying once done lol.

Just love what you are doing! I think your cover (THAT LION) turned out great, and I love the colors of your inside pages. And the neat way you did the letters. I went over and joined HIS Kingdom Come group. I don't know if I will have the time, but it looks so inspiring! However, there looks like so many great groups within the group, which ones should I join now? LOL.
Fabulous start to a new journal. Amazing front cover and love the start. Hmmm - Make Space, so many meanings could lay beneath that! TFS
Such a beautiful art journal! Thank you for sharing and happy PPF!
