Hello Friends,
Yesterday I told you about His Kingdom Come and the Take Me Deeper art journal project I am doing with one of the groups there. Another group I joined is called, "Logos365" where we, as individuals, are encouraged to seek God for a word or phrase for 2015. My phrase is "Make space" and I will be using that throughout the year in my TMD journal.
I did two pages yesterday: one for my Logos365 phrase and the other for this week's TMD scripture verse.
My 'Make Space' page started with a few pieces of a favourite designer paper. I added some gold Gelatos in a few places. Then I had a play and a scribble with my new water colour gel crayons, which I got at Target for $2.79. :) Next I added a thin layer of Gesso and pressed a texture sheet into the wet paint in various places. Once I was satisfied with my background (and it was dry) I drew my dove. I used my water colour gel crayons and white craft paint for the dove.
I thought it was too blue so I finger-dabbed on more white in places I wanted to highlight.
My Logos365 phrase "Make Space" crowns the head while the message "for His Presence" is written in purple glitter pen on his chest.
I dotted white paint over the black marker on "Make space", but it didn't stand out very well once it dried. So I pulled out my secret weapon - a white gel pen. That is definitely one of my most favourite tools.
My final step for this page was to draw silhouette faces with an Artist Cellar stencil. I used water colour pencils for the outlines of the faces. I liquified them slightly and added a bit more colour with my Yasutomo pearlescent water colour pan paints. The lettering was the most challenging part of this design. The painting was fairly quick and easy.

For my Take Me Deeper page I wrote this week's scripture verse over a background I made with my water colour gel crayons. I am really enjoying those; all the more because they were such a great bargain. I did the verse in pencil first and erased everything a few times before I got it right. I completed it with a black permanent Sharpie marker pen.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you are able to do something relaxing and enjoyable today.
Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

Wow you do have a lot of mediums you create with so beautifully. Love those side profiles of the faces. It is seriously hot here in Johannesburg and its 5.30pm now and we just switched the gas braai on on our balcony to braai some toasted cheese onion and tomatoe sandwiches for supper.

Oh, I love your backgrounds for these two pages--you are combining your techniques and materials beautifully! And your dove is gorgeous--I think it also looks like an angel! :^) Love your profiles, too, and you have done a lovely job of lettering your verse! :^)

These pages are so meaningful and I also see that in your art as well as your words. It comes straight from the heart and I can see that in both pages.

Teresa, You sure are using all kinds of mediums and doing several different techniques. The profiles turned out nice and I do not think you had to much blue, though it looked nice.

I love your art, Teresa; I love the risks you're willing to take and the places it takes you. Both pages are marvelous but I'm really touched by the two profile drawings. One of the things I love about visiting your blog is that I get a soothing sense of God's Word from your art. Thanks, my friend. :-D
