Hello Friends,
Last Sunday I shared a new sentiment with you. I created it for a card to celebrate the adoption of a 3-year-old boy. The parents had been two years into the process before they were finally able to hold their new son in their arms so I wanted to make this very special. I chose to make a surprise box card without the surprise because this one does not fold flat. It had a gift bag of its own.
I thought this vintage image from Sweetly Scrapped was almost perfect for this card. I used my water colour pencils to darken the skin and hair and then it was perfect. The teddy is an embellishment I made from a handmade mold (I used a pin and silicone putty) and then painted with a mixture of gold mica powder and varnish. I had the wooden teddy in my stash and the "Oh Boy" is a Pink Paislee sticker.
The treasure chest is a handmade embellishment made from a Boss Cut die. I have a few of these for sale if anyone is interested. $1.75 for two, plus postage. Each is different so I can send you pics.
The verse I created for this special occasion. If you didn't get it last Sunday, you can pick it up here.
I decorated the side flaps with more sunflowers (3 in all) and die cut leaves.
And I couldn't resist decorating the back of the box too.
The crow image and sentiment set is a Tickell Expressions original. You can pick it up here.
I get very excited when people adopt. It is something my husband and I always dreamed of, but circumstances prevented us from doing so. Instead, we took children of friends on special outings, babysat for friends, made balloon animals for neighbourhood children, sponsored children in Third World countries; now we run a weekly children's program at our church. We couldn't adopt them into our home so we adopted them into our hearts. Our lives are rich and full because of it.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. If you are an American, I wish you a wonderful July 4th holiday.
Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

This is wonderful!! Thanks for sharing it with us at Crafty Time! Like you my husband and I were unable to adopt although we would have loved to! However, my sister and her husband were successful and so we "share" her wonderful son! Only joking of course, but we do have a special relationship! Hugs Christine xx
