Be Still

Hello Friends,

A friend and I decided to make some bookmarks for our church library. For my first two I started with this. A snack, you say? Actually, I break down and chop up most of my boxes to use as journal pages, tags, bookmarks or surfaces on which to mount water colour paper so it doesn't curl when wet. I cut this box front into a 5 1/4 inch square, then cut that down the middle for my tag-sized bookmarks. My son bought me a guillotine, self-sharpening cutter for my birthday this year which makes this super easy.
I took my inspiration from Triple the Scraps - Glory Art Scripture Challenge. The theme is "Still" and I used this scripture (Tickell Expressions) on the backs of the bookmarks.
My little bird is from a Stampin' Up punch that I absolutely adore. For both backgrounds I started with torn paper collage, some Gesso; then ink sprays. I used my only two colours - lime green and wine. I really want to get more colours because they are great for making quick backgrounds. I also rubbed some gold metallic paint on with my fingers. I stamped a flower from a clear stamp set by Creative Imaginations. A die cut (BossCut) leafy branch, some Liquid Pearl accents and metallic purple cord completed my design - almost. The finishing touch were some handmade paper beads.
I used Washi tape accents, a multi-coloured metallic fiber and one of my favourite (pre-coloured) Doodle Pantry images to complete the other tag/bookmark.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you were able to pick up today's free image.

Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

Beautiful bookmarks. Those boxes are always much too good to throw away, that's true! Hugs, Valerie

Upcycling the cereal box to give your projects 'strength' is brilliant; I need to remember that for down the road. Your bookmarks...oh my! What an eye-catching, pretty array you've created, each one so unique - and practical. Your church group will adore them, as do I! Thank you for sharing your creativity in the Inkspirational gallery!
