Artist's Field Journal

Hello Friends,

Recently I joined a co-op of artisans to run a gift shop this summer. I have been selling mixed media and encaustic art pieces, from tags to framed paintings. I also developed a new product that I call an "Artist's Field Journal". The covers are made from recycled box-board and each journal is filled with 140 lb. Canson watercolor paper. Here is one of my journals, which has already been sold.

I started by decoupaging my box-board with napkins and leaving lots of wrinkles for texture. I then did a layer of Gesso. When that was dry, I sponged on first yellow ochre acrylic paint, then burnt sienna. Once the paint was dry, I dragged ink pads over the surfaces to just catch the raised areas. I chose to use SU Cherry Cobbler and SU Chocolate Chip for my inks. I finished off with twine and beads, including handmade paper beads. Then I bound the book with snap-apart binder rings.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs & smiles,
Teresa
