It's My Anniversary!

Hello Friends,

Today marks 28 years married to my soul mate, my best friend, my split-apart, my beloved Terry. We were together for two years before we tied the knot and also dated for a month when we were teenagers, so we have known each other for most of our lives.

I broke up with Terry when we were teens. He was 17 and I was 15. He never forgot me and sent me a letter 12 years later, hoping against hope that there was still a chance of things working out with his First Love. Smart guy, huh?

I called him the very same day I received his letter. The poor guy nearly fell off his chair. We went out that same night and I fell in love with him on the dance floor.

Before he kissed me good night he said, "I don't know if I will ever get the chance to say this again, and I don't expect you to say anything back, but I love you. I've always loved you."

And you thought stuff like this only happened in movies? It doesn't get much more romantic than that.
So 12 years after Terry first fell in love with me, I was back in his life and thoroughly in love with him.

Here we are in 1985, a few months after our romantic reunion.

We were married on April 4, 1987 on a cold, wet and windy day.

Our four beautiful children were in the wedding party.

Terry has always been the more romantic of the two of us. I fall in the category of comic relief. Terry doesn't mind at all, saying that my sense of humour is one of the things he loves best about me. But in all seriousness, Terry's unconditional love of me has given my heart a place of shelter. It has given me good soil in which to grow as a person. Others had taught me to be ashamed of my sensitivity, but Terry cherished my tender nature, telling me that it was one of the loveliest things about me. He has encouraged my creativity, cheered me from the sidelines when it was my time to shine, and laughed at my jokes, no matter how corny. Best of all he has helped me to know the unconditional love of my Heavenly Father by showing me what pure love really looks like. I wish every person could know love like this in another human, as well as in God.

Here is the card I made for Terry for our anniversary. It reflects my goofy humour that Terry likes.
These Doodle Pantry sock monkeys were cute on their own, as well as with the DP hair bow and tie additions, but I wanted to dress them up a bit more. It wasn't hard to cut out a dress, vest and hat for them. I added a sticker embellishment to Miss Monkey's dress to fancy it up.
I die cut the leaves, flowers and flourishes from glitter papers. I shaped the leaves and flowers with a stylus. I had a metal rose in my stash that fell off of a hair clip a long time ago. At the time, I picked it up and said, "I can probably use that for something." That was about 5 years ago. :)

This is a peek-a-boo card. I found the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers. It was a little hard to follow, but I think it turned out okay. The peek-a-boo part is a message that slides into place when you open the card.

And because Terry is always getting after me for not signing my creations.... here is the back of the card.
Thank you so much for sharing this special day with me. I wish you hope. I wish you faith. But most of all, I wish you love.

Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

First of all Happy Anniversary to you both. It was lovely reading about your love story how special it was and is. I felt as I read the story of your relationship that it was a big part of your life, I should image you have changed since you met your Terry as he has helped you to grow to who you are today :) He has helped you blossom which I think is the best gift anyone can give to another person. May your love and happiness continue to grow and blossom. God Bless...
