Encaustic Painting

Hello Friends,

This past Christmas I received an encaustic art kit, but I didn’t do much with it until recently. Like watercolour, there is an adjustment of learning how the medium behaves. If watercolour seems to have a mind of its own, encaustic does even moreso. I am finding it to be like a relationship, as I learn where I can force my will upon the medium and where I need to let it do the wonderful things it naturally does.

Here is a small intuitive painting I did yesterday.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to reading your comments.

Blessing hugs,
Teresa

Wow this is a great painting. It's so nice that you can use your imagination in what you see in the encaustic painting. At first I saw skyscrapers on the horizon. But you can also see rock formations in them. On the forground a thick tree trunk on the edge of water. Well that's my interpretation. I wonder what you ment to paint or see in the result.
Best wishes, Wies

WOW, Teresa, absolutely stunning! Anyone would think you've been working with encaustic art for years. I wish this was hanging in my living room.

You are doing great at the encaustic art, love the texture and shape of that tree trunk. You buildings look very mystical. I wrote a short story/poem, can't remember which it was, but it was called the Celestial City. I remembered the title as soon as I saw your picture :)
