The Value of Practice

Hello Folks,

Do you have someone in your life who is a source of life inspiration to you? How about creative inspiration? My husband, Terry, is both to me.

Last year, He felt inspired by God to draw daily during Lent. Many of his sketches involved drawing people and faces. Terry was always a natural talent at drawing, but he was intimidated to try drawing faces.

Here is the first face he ever drew. It's not bad for a first attempt.
After Easter weekend 2019, Terry found a book for drawing cartoon people and practiced consistently all year. Last month, his confidence was built up enough to try drawing more realistic facial features. He decided to start learning how to draw an eye. His first drawings were pretty good (I don't have pics of those), but he kept persevering for more realism. Here are some of his drawings from the first week of March 2020. These are really good.
Terry kept going until he'd mastered a realistic eye. Here's what he did the 2nd week of March 2020.
I'm proud of what he's accomplished, but I'm even prouder of his perseverance. It inspires me to keep trying to overcome obstacles in my own art journey. I hope you're inspired by Terry's journey too.

Hugs & smiles,
Teresa

Perseverance is the key to success, I know my drawing skills take a step back when I don’t practice. Those eyes are really good.
