Watercolour Rose

Hello Friends,

I started feeling better (just a cold) yesterday so I practised painting some flowers. First I painted two white daisies, using different techniques on each one, and then I plunged in and did a pink rose. Pink roses and white daisies are my absolute favourite flowers. Perhaps someday when I become more adept at painting I will buy myself a mixed bouquet of both and paint them. That will be one to hang on the wall for sure.
These are mini paintings, just the right size for practice and to mount on cards. I haven't done anything with the daisies yet, so more about them in another post. On to my pink rose.

For each flower I taped off the edges while painting so I would have a nice border all the way around. When I pulled off the tape from my rose I had a little paint on my finger. When I tried to dab it away, I grabbed a very used paper towel, which added even more colour to my white border. But, as any artist knows, mistakes are only opportunities to do it differently; which is how I ended up with a lady bug on one of my daisies, but that is for another post.

So I wet my border and started adding paint until I was satisfied with the look. All in all, I think it was rather serendipitous - a lucky mistake.
I finished this card last night and took a picture. Yuck.
So I took another picture this morning. Much better.
Then I decided to add a birthday sentiment. All set.
I also created a new inside-card sentiment which I will share with you here. I actually cut the Happy Birthday from it and used in on the front of the card.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope you like the sentiment and can use it on your cards.

Blessing hugs,
Teresa

Yep, every mistake is an opportunity. So you got to add a lucky ladybug to your daisy! I love that! :^)
BTW, both daisies are gorgeous and I look forward to seeing them on cards! As for your rose, that turned out beautifully, too, and I love your card design for it! The embossing, twine, and sequins really finished it off! Love it! :^)
Hugs, Penny
P.S. Really nice inside sentiment, too, and thank you!

From experience, I know that water color painting is serendipitous. At least in my case, as I haven't decided yet decided why one sitting can delight me, and the next cause me to sweep the paper, still wet with sweat and paint, into the trash can. I love your flowers, T. And I'm glad you found your way down the path of serendipity at the Path of Positivity challenge blog this month. Thanks for sharing!
